Recent Purchases (Off the Wall and Urban Outfitters)

Last weekend, my mother and I drove 3 hours to do some shopping at one of the better malls in my area. She offered to pay for all the clothes I bought as an end-of-semester/exam gift (which was fairly courageous on her part seeing as I hadn't even gotten my exam marks back yet). Anyways, here are some of my purchases!
First off, an adorable pair of Roxy boots (from Off the Wall). It's hard to tell from the picture but they're checkered houndstooth. I wasn't sure if I liked them at first but now I love them and they look great with another of my purchases - purple skinnies (not pictured)!

Another pair of Roxy shoes (what can I say, they were on sale!) - this time brown (with a bit of teal) wedge heels (or cheater shoes, as my friend loves to call them!). I wore them to school but practically froze my feet off in this minus a million weather we have over here!

From Urban Outfitters, this very cute (and very soft) dress. I actually got the dress in gry but the picture of the grey dress just looked so awkward I decided to post this one instead!

Also from Urban Outfitters, this very cute hoodie. I have a serious lack of cozy-cute hoodies so this one is so great and is already coming in very handy!

Also from Urban Outfitters, the very cute "Paris" necklace. They had lots of different cities - London, Barcelona... I chose the Paris one because Paris is my absolute favourite place on earth!

I got some other items of clothing, too - purple skinnies (mentioned above), a bright yellow top and a white and grey thermal top. I'll try to get some "Wearing Today' pictures with these other items of clothing!

To: Miss Hannah Montana

Exams are done (as of noon today) and thank goodness for that! I am very glad to have my life back!

Miss Montana, I have a bit of a bone to pick with you - it goes a little something like "what exactly are you wearing?"!

So you like patterns. And sequins. A lot. However, there's really a much better way to do them. And as lovely as the whole knee socks and kilt thing is, it reminds me a little too much of my school uniform (and that's bad -very, very bad).

Just in case you hadn't noticed, there are rhinestones on those footless tights. And rhinestones and sequins clash (if it's even possible for plastic materials to clash!?). And the whole punk/biker chick thing on the right is all a little too "Claire's" if you ask me (not that you were asking me - you don't even know me!). However, the boots (left) and vest (right) would be OK on their own, I'm thinking. I'll give you props for those (and, yes, I did just say props).

But as much as I like to bash your clothing choices, they're not all heinous (well, let's hope not!). And, secretly (or not so secretly) I love your show (it's a guilt pleasure - what can I say!)

Hiatus

I feel like I am just starting to get this blog off the ground and now I have to take a break. But, it's exam time and that means I will spending the next two weeks of my life studying (for Chem, Physics and Social - how dull!). Anyways, I'm very sorry for this little hiatus but expect me back around the 24th or 25th of January!

Style Star: Kristen Bell

I don't know about you, but, I miss Veronica Mars! It wasn't so much the show (although, it was great), I just love Kristen Bell! She may not be the most daring or influential fashionista out there, but she does know how to dress herself and she has such a beautiful smile!

I love the way these dark, simple colors compliment her flawless complexion and beautiful skin tone! Both cuts are very flattering on her.

Nothing spectacular - a solid red top, skinnies and flats. She still looks fantastic, though! Her smile, her skin, her hair - gah, I'm so insanely jealous!

The Pashmina

I'm usually a little slow trying out trends that I like which is really too bad because by the time I actually try them they are out of style! No matter, I have decided I really do like the look of scarves and I finally dug out two scarves I got in London a couple years. I've paired them with a few different tops and I want to hear which combos you like the best! And I hope you enjoy the background (my oh-so-lovely bathroom!).

Roan Red (I actually have no idea if this color is roan red. However, it looks like it should be called roan red!) Pashmina with Forest Green Tee

OK, I realize this post has also been a bit of a doozy but I'm still new to this and I promise things will get better! Next post: my Christmas presents!

Rory: The New Girl on the Block

Well, I am horrible with introductions so lets just cut to the chase... My name is Rory and this is my fashion blog: I Dream of Sugar Plum Fairies. Feel free to comment or link me and I'll be sure to do the same! I wanted to start of with a series of 'Get to Know Me' posts so this first post shows some of my favourite fall/winter wear. All pictures from Urban Outfitters.
The Cardigan: versatile, cozy and a ton of selection - who wouldn't love the cardigan?! Whether you're throwing it on over a t-shirt for some extra warmth or using it as the finishing touch to a super cute mini dress, you can never have too many cardigans!

The Coat: I started on my coat obsession a few years ago with a fabulous knee length, blue plaid coat. I've added more coats to my collection since then - the most recent being a cream colored baby doll style coat. If you want to turn heads, go for a bold and beautiful or patterned trench or blend into the crowd with a warm and cozy neutral.
The Mini Dress: dress it up or dress down - a mini dress can be great for any occasion depending how you wear it! Black leotards are the most common choice this season but it's really up to you how you choose to wear it!
The Graphic T: OK, OK, so, it's not really a trend but graphic t's happen to be my guilty obsession. There's really not much to say about these but you gotta love the one on the far right!

Reading over this I realize it sounds a little over exaggerated and peppy - don't worry, it will soon wear off. I think it's just the newness of entering the blogosphere. And from here on in, I promise these posts will get a million times better. Merry Christmas, everyone!
